When I do Consulting I often recommend that the Company should offer to pay their Managers and Employees Extra Money for doing Extra Work or Extra Money for getting the Work done in Record Time. Quite often they balk at this idea because they feel they are already paying good or even great compensation for these people to do the work they were hired for.

Safety Management Techniques: Providing Protection for Employees in the Workplace
By: Dan Snyder, Tue Jul 3rd, 2007
Recently, a 23-year old roofer slipped off the roof where he was working, fracturing his leg, dislocating his wrist, breaking his back, and causing permanent nerve damage. This worker, who had never heard of the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration, was not wearing a safety harness and was using a "slide guard" unapproved by OSHA. Although the jury found this worker minimally responsible for his negligence, the majority of the responsibility went to the employing contractors, resulting in a $10,500,000 judgment granted to the worker.
